Thailand to Reduce Visa-Free Stay from 60 Days to 30 Days.
📢 Travel Update for International Visitors
Thailand is planning to adjust its visa-free entry policy. The current 60-day visa-free stay (granted to passport holders from 93 eligible countries) is expected to return to 30 days.
The proposal is currently under government discussion and may be approved soon.
📌 Why the Change?
Thai authorities have shared several reasons:
• Concerns about misuse of the longer 60-day stay (including unauthorized work and other non-tourist activities)
• Strengthening immigration control and national security
• Closing policy loopholes
Officials also note that most tourists stay an average of about 2–3 weeks, so a 30-day visa-free period still covers the majority of travelers.
📌 What This Means for Travelers.
If implemented:
✔ Visa-free stays will be limited to 30 days.
✔ Longer stays will require visa extensions or appropriate visa categories.
✔ Long-stay or slow-travel visitors may need to plan ahead.
The original 60-day visa-free expansion was introduced in July 2024 to boost tourism recovery. The government is now reviewing the policy to ensure balanced and sustainable tourism growth.
