In 1954, Mr Pisit and Mrs Nongnooch Tansacha bought 1,500 rai (approximately 600 acres) of rolling hills and valleys between Pattaya-Sattahip at the 163 kilometer marker on Sukhumvit road in Najomtien, Sattahip, Pattaya in Chonburi Province. The newly purchased land was anticipated to become a fruit plantation of mangoes, oranges and coconuts as well as many other local fruits.

During her trip abroad, Mrs Nongnooch was inspired by the beauty of world renowned gardens and decided to turn the fruit orchard into a tropical garden of ornamental flowers and plants. The garden was later turned into a tourist attraction fully equipped with accommodation, a swimming pool, restaurants, and banquet and seminar halls for the tourist’s convenience.

Nongnooch garden opened to the public in 1980, and added to the garden was a daily Thai cultural show and elephant show within the theater. Three years later, the garden management was handed over to her son, Mr Kampon Tansacha, and today is one of the most popular attractions of Thailand as well as a center of world botanical significant under the concept “a garden for all people of this world”.

Presently, Nongnooch garden is a very popular tourist attraction with an area of over 1, 700 rai welcoming tourists from all over the world. Chao Phraya Princess Cruise is run by the management team of Tristar Floating Restaurant Co., Ltd. The company has maintained its reputation as a market leader in this floating restaurant industry; its cruises are most favored by tourists and customers across the world.
Tristar Floating Restaurant Co., Ltd was founded in 1990 by three skilled businessmen who previously worked in travel agencies. Their partnership and creativity initiated the importance of Chao Phraya River and its beauty. The floating restaurant attracted consumers in the mass market to take interests and appreciate the river’s impact on Thai culture and lifestyle.
For this symbolic resemblance, the company named their cruises Chao Phraya Princess. At present, there are five cruises run by the Tristar management team. Each cruise has its prominent features and differing sizes to appeal to different consumer tastes. One of the company’s main objectives is to ensure their guests feel safe and relaxed on the boat. The company has fulfilled its objective by devoting their time to both interior and architectural designing and by using the most up-to-date, standard, and durable materials to construct their boats. The company seeks to adjust to its consumer’s changing trends. They have renovated two of their cruises over the past decade to inspire modern and new luxurious aesthetic designs.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market consists of a maze of narrow khlongs (canals), and can be navigated by boat.Female traders, often wearing traditional mo hom apparel (blue farmers' shirts) with wide-brimmed straw hats (ngob) use sampans (small wooden boats) to sell their wares, often produce that comes directly from farms. These boats are often full of vegetables and colorful fruits that are photogenic, and these images are used for tourism promotion. The market is often the busiest in the morning around 7 am to 9 am, and is active until noon.

The floating market comprises three smaller markets: Ton Khem, Hia Kui, and Khun Phitak. Ton Khem is the largest market and is on Khlong Damnoen Saduak. Hia Kui is parallel to Khlong Damnoen Saduak and has souvenir shops on the canals banks to sell goods to larger tour groups. Khun Phitak is about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of Hia Kui and is the smallest and least crowded market.

The floating market is crowded with tourists and is considered a tourist trap. As such, the wares tend to be overpriced. Bargaining is a common practice, although usually the prices of souvenirs and food are generally fixed within a few Thai baht. Canoe cooks can be found preparing and selling boat noodles. The floating market also has been noted to lack cultural authenticity, although it remains a popular destination for both foreign and domestic tourists.

The market has been featured in several films. A canal chase scene in The Man with the Golden Gun with Roger Moore as James Bond was filmed at the market, and the 2008 film Bangkok Dangerous starring Nicolas Cage includes a scene that takes place at the market.
