📍 Damnoen Saduak Floating Market & Mae Klong Train Market, through the eyes of our guests

There's something about floating markets that gets everyone. The colours, the energy, the vendors, the boats, it's one of those experiences that's hard to describe but impossible to forget.

These are some of our favourite moments captured by guests we've had the pleasure of taking there.

Every group is different. Every trip is private. Every itinerary is built around what you want to see and do.

Thinking about adding a floating market to your Bangkok trip? 📩 Message us! We'll take care of everything. 🙏

🗺️ Staying in Bangkok for a few days? You're closer to some incredible destinations than you might think.
Here are 7 of our favourite day trips : from ancient ruins to hidden islands and everything in between 👇

🏛️ Ayutthaya : 1.5 hrs away
Thailand's ancient capital. UNESCO ruins, royal palaces, and the iconic Buddha head nestled in tree roots. Best explored by tuk-tuk or bicycle once you arrive.

🚂 Mae Klong + Damnoen Saduak : 1.5 hrs away
Vendors pack up in seconds as a working train rolls through the market. Pair it with a long-tail boat ride through Damnoen Saduak's floating stalls. Two unique Thai experiences in one half-day.

🌿 Bang Krachao : 30 mins away
Bangkok's green lung. Mangrove forests, canal pathways, and a weekend floating market, all a short boat ride from the city. Almost entirely off the tourist radar.

🐘 Kanchanaburi : 2 hrs away
The Death Railway, Erawan Falls, and ethical elephant sanctuaries in one destination. One of the most varied day trips from Bangkok. Best enjoyed as a full day.

🌊 Pattaya : 2 hrs away
More than its reputation suggests. The Sanctuary of Truth, Koh Larn's crystal-clear waters, and Khao Chi Chan's cliff-etched Buddha make for a surprisingly rich day out.

🏝️ Ko Kret : 30 mins away
A quiet island in the Chao Phraya River. No cars, no crowds, just bikes, canals, and handmade terra-cotta pottery. Easy to explore in half a day.

🔖 Save this before your trip and follow us for Part 2, where we show you how to do any of these as a private day trip from Bangkok. 🗺️

💸 Bangkok is one of Asia's best value destinations but only if you know how to handle your money.
Here's everything you need to sort before you land 👇

💱 Where to Exchange
Skip the airport bank counters, the rates are poor and you'll regret it. Head to SuperRich located at the bottom floor of the airport or any reputable money changer in the city instead, easy to find near BTS stations and inside major malls. The difference on a $500 exchange can be 100–200 THB in your pocket.

🏧 ATMs — Use Sparingly
Thai ATMs charge foreign cards around 220 THB (~$6) per withdrawal, on top of whatever your home bank charges. Withdraw larger amounts less frequently to save on fees.

📱 Scan & Pay Like a Local — PromptPay QR
Almost every shop, market stall, and even tuk tuk in Thailand has a small QR code displayed somewhere. This is PromptPay, Thailand's national QR payment network, it's how locals pay for nearly everything instead of cash.

🌏 Travelling from Asia? Thailand has direct QR links with several countries: Singapore (PayNow), Malaysia (DuitNow), Indonesia (QRIS), Hong Kong (FPS), and Japan (JP Bank Pay). Your bank app may already scan Thai QR codes directly. Check before downloading anything new.
If your bank doesn't support this yet, here's the tourist-friendly backup:
👉 TAGTHAi Easy Pay: an e-wallet built for foreign visitors, developed with Kasikorn Bank.
• Visit a KBank exchange booth (airports, BTS stations, malls like Siam Paragon or ICONSIAM) with your passport
• Exchange cash for a PAY&TOUR prepaid card: free, no application fee
• Download the TAGTHAi app, link your card, and you're set to scan and pay anywhere
• Leftover balance refunded at the same exchange rate when you leave
⚠️ Honest note: the app can be a little slow at times, and top-ups are cash-only at KBank counters.

🇨🇳 For Chinese travellers: Alipay and WeChat Pay now work directly with Thai QR codes at participating banks, no extra card needed — though smaller street vendors may still prefer cash.

💵 Cash is Still King for These
• Street food stalls
• Tuk tuks & motorcycle taxis
• Local markets (Mae Klong, Chatuchak, Pak Khlong Talat)
• Temple entrance fees

Keep small bills, many vendors can't break a 1,000 THB note.
Save this before your trip, you'll thank yourself later.

🛕 Visiting Thai Temples? Read This First.

Thailand has over 40,000 temples and walking into one for the first time is genuinely one of those travel moments you never forget. The golden spires, the smell of incense, monks in saffron robes, the quiet that hits you the moment you step inside.
But temples in Thailand aren't just tourist attractions. They're active places of worship, deeply woven into daily Thai life. Knowing how to act shows respect and honestly, it makes the whole experience richer for you too.
Here's what our guides always tell guests before every temple visit 👇

✅ Do: — Cover your shoulders and knees (or grab a sarong at the entrance) — Remove your shoes before stepping inside any building — Sit with your feet pointing away from Buddha images — Speak softly — you're sharing this space with people who are praying

❌ Don't: — Touch or climb on Buddha statues or temple structures — Hand anything directly to a monk if you're a woman — Point your feet toward any sacred image or altar — Raise your voice or show frustration — composure matters deeply here — Never take photos of monks or people praying without their permission

💡 Pro tip from our guides: Visit early morning, before 8 AM if you can. The light is golden, the crowds are thin, and you'll often catch monks doing their morning chants. It's the version of the temples that most tourists never see.

We include temple visits in many of our Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Ayutthaya tours, and our local guides bring these places to life in a way a guidebook simply can't.

If you're planning a trip to Thailand and want to experience it the right way, we'd love to take you. 🙏

Getting around Bangkok is part of the experience itself
Each type of transportation gives you a completely different side of the city and knowing how to combine them properly can make your trip much smoother.

🚆 BTS & MRT are the easiest ways to move around central Bangkok, especially for shopping areas, cafés, rooftop bars, and neighborhoods like Sukhumvit, Siam, or Chinatown. They’re fast, affordable, and help avoid the city’s heavy traffic.

🚤 River boats along the Chao Phraya River are one of the best ways to explore Bangkok’s historic side. They connect major attractions like Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, and many local riverside communities while offering some of the best views of the city.

🛺 Tuk tuks are perfect for short rides through busy areas like Chinatown or around the Old Town, especially in the evening when Bangkok becomes more lively and vibrant. For a more convenient experience, travelers can also use the MuvMi app, which allows you to book electric tuk tuks directly from your phone with transparent pricing.

🚕 Grab and Bolt are among the most popular transportation apps in Bangkok. They make it easy to book taxis or private cars, avoid language barriers, and know the price in advance before starting your journey.

🚶 Some neighborhoods are simply best explored on foot. Areas like Talad Noi are filled with hidden cafés, small streets, local shops, and corners you’d probably miss otherwise.

🚐 And for day trips outside the city, places like Maeklong Railway Market or Ayutthaya Historical Park... having a private vehicle often makes the experience much easier and more comfortable, especially when combining multiple locations in one day.
Bangkok can feel overwhelming at first, but with the right itinerary and transportation choices, the city becomes incredibly rewarding to explore.
