WFFT Wildlife Watch: Ending Violence Against Wild Elephants: Learning to Coexist Sustainably! ภาษาไทยด้านล่าง
Officials at Khao Laem National Park in Kanchanaburi seized 34 hidden bamboo nail traps and 2.3 kilograms of suspicious salt believed to be contaminated with toxic substances, placed along a wild elephant pathway in the forest. The act is highly cruel, as sharp nails can cause deep wounds, infections, disability, or death in elephants, while poisoned salt also threatens other wildlife and the wider ecosystem.
Human-elephant conflict is increasing as habitat loss and encroachment push elephants closer to communities, but violence is not the answer. Long-term coexistence depends on protecting forests, restoring natural food sources, improving land-use planning around farms, and building stronger collaboration between local communities and authorities so both people and elephants can live safely side by side.

เจ้าหน้าที่อุทยานแห่งชาติเขาแหลม จ.กาญจนบุรี ตรวจยึดกับดักตะปูไม้ไผ่ 34 ชิ้น และเกลือต้องสงสัยปนเปื้อนสารพิษ 2.3 กิโลกรัม ที่ถูกวางไว้บนเส้นทางหากินของช้างป่าในป่าบ้านทิพุเย การกระทำดังกล่าวถือเป็นความโหดร้ายอย่างมาก เพราะตะปูสามารถแทงฝ่าเท้าช้างจนเกิดบาดแผลลึก ติดเชื้อ พิการ หรือเสียชีวิตได้ ขณะที่สารพิษยังอาจเป็นอันตรายต่อสัตว์ป่าชนิดอื่นและระบบนิเวศโดยรวม
ความขัดแย้งระหว่างคนกับช้างป่าเพิ่มขึ้นจากการสูญเสียและรุกล้ำถิ่นอาศัย แต่การใช้ความรุนแรงไม่ใช่ทางออก การอยู่ร่วมกับช้างอย่างยั่งยืนต้องอาศัยการปกป้องพื้นที่ป่า ฟื้นฟูแหล่งอาหารตามธรรมชาติ จัดการพื้นที่เกษตรอย่างเหมาะสม และสร้างความเข้าใจร่วมกันระหว่างชุมชนและหน่วยงาน เพื่อให้ทั้งคนและช้างสามารถอยู่ร่วมกันได้อย่างปลอดภัย
