ชื่อ “ถ้ำม้าร้อง” มาจากเรื่องเล่าของชาวบ้านที่เชื่อว่าในอดีตมีม้าอาศัยอยู่ในถ้ำแห่งนี้ และเสียงสะท้อนภายในถ้ำคล้ายกับเสียงม้าร้อง ทำให้เกิดเป็นชื่อที่น่าสนใจและเต็มไปด้วยเสน่ห์ของเรื่องราวโบราณ
