Chom View Cabins are two private family cabins situated amidst a century old tea plantation overlooking the town of Chiang Dao. Some mornings you'll be sitting among clouds in this hill dubbed as DoiMek (cloudy hill). We also serve coffee from our arms at the cabins!
// The Space //
These two private cabins were originally built for family and friends to stay when we visit Chiang Dao. It is set i
n the middle of coffee and tea plantation called DoiMek Estate. The Assam tea trees are hundreds of years old, and our first coffee yields just won Top Ten Best Coffee of 2015 by Specialty Coffee Association of Thailand!
// Guest Access //
You will have access to one or two cabins and the whole plantation where you are welcome to pick your own tea tips and coffee berries if you're there in the right season. Feel free to take a hike down hill where we there's a small path, but do be careful and keep in mind that you are in the forest.
// Interaction with Guests //
We visit Chiang Dao twice a month, and we would be staying in a house a few hundred meters down the road. We will not come bother you unless you get bored and need some company. If we are there, you are more than welcome to come visit us for breakfasts and have some coffee or wine too :) Just walk down the road a few hundred meters and knock on our doors!
// The Neighborhood //
What makes this place unique? The view of the whole town of Chiang Dao, and the rolling clouds around the magnificent Mount Chiang Dao!
// Getting Around //
We suggest you have a car or motorbike. Once your booking is confirmed, there will be a detailed guideline on how to get there.
// Other Things to Note //
IMPORTANT to keep in mind: the cabins are set in the forest. Do not hunt or kill any animals. There are no large animals but be aware of some insects and sometimes mice. Even though they are clean and cute, refrain from feeding them. Make sure you secure all trash in the baskets provided. We do our best to keep the cabin in its best condition. Do let us know if there are problems and we will have our local caretaker to arrive as soon as possible. Our caretaker does not speak English, but you can call me and I will help you out. There are other villages around, so please be considerate at night regarding noises. Keep mesh doors shut so insects won't come in to bother you at night. The single phase electricity can sometimes get cut off during heavy rain. If you don't find this romantic, I do not recommend the place. But if you do, there are flashlights and candles to add extra romance to your stay :)
