Wat Chiang Man is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. It was constructed in 1296 by King Mengrai, the founder of Chiang Mai. The temple features typical Northern Thai temple architecture and contains several old artifacts. Wat Chiang Man houses two very important and venerated Buddha figures - Phra Sila (a marble bas-relief Buddha supposed to have come from Sri Lanka 2,000 years ago) and Phra Satang Man (a crystal Buddha from Lopburi, thought to be about 1,800 years old). During King Tilokkarat’s period (1441-1487) the stupa fell down and was reconstructed. After a long period of deterioration, the temple was restored by King Kawila (1782-1813). Despite the fact that Wat Chiang Man has been renovated and reconstructed several times it still maintains its original charm and appearance.

King Meng Rai had instructed to make moat 4 directions in order to bring Ping River into the city most and made camp around and pond near his for construction of pagoda in order that people could come the pay respect to the foundation was 8 way (a table of thai measure : 1 wah = 4 sok ) 1 Sok wide, 22 was high were the design was copie from Jarma Thevi Temple in Lamphun Province and this was Lopburi art Style were the 4 direction's had standing Buddha images in side the arches at 15 images each totally 60 images, This was told that to enhance the prestigious of King Meng Rai is 60 wives. The was told of pagodas were sharp with many tiered state Umbrella.
In the year 2451 B.€. Luang Yonakarn Bijit had renovated the pagoda by each side to make the total of 64 pagodas at the end.

Chiang Mai has passed long time history more than 720 years and is important city for development of Thailand in the upper northern region which for this reason. We has organized this tour program to show people about how Chiang Mai become Chiang Mai and where the important place to see and learn about it since the creation of Chiang Mai to the present day.

The yonok historical mentioned that King Meng Rai instructed to build Kan Tom Temple during the year 1833 B.€. This consisted of 12 meters wide. 18 meters high pagoda's foundation.The 4 direction of arched entrance were built by using Buddha Image to pile up 2 layers. The 4 Buddha image were placed in to the lower layer. The upper layer God Indra and image of the earth for the Bhddha image also. Besides, within the area of Kan tom temple also had the glory if Buddhist tree which its seed was delivered from Ceylon from an ancient time and the important historical evidence apart from a number of discovered the Buddha image of baked clay from the period of Haripunchai, they also found the engravement of red sand-stone with Mon's alphabets with 4 characters between Mon and Thai. Sukhothai and the first F*k Kham.
Within the area of Khan Tom Temple there was old Bodhi tree and the Buddha Image had been respected and there was King's Meng Rai palace where people in that paid respect from an Ancient time.
