Thailand’s 60-day visa exemption is expected to be cut back to 30 days very soon.

The Thai cabinet approved the change on May 19, 2026. It has not taken effect yet — the new rule starts 15 days after publication in the Royal Gazette.

For now, there is still be a short window to get one more 60-day visa exemption stamp before the change becomes fully active. When travelling witn us, expect a 2 weeks window during which you will still be able to get 60-day stamps after the official publication.

What stays the same:

- 30-day immigration extension still available
- 2 land border entries per calendar year still applies
- Tourist Visa still gives 60 days + 30-day extension
- DTV remains a strong long-stay option

If you’re in Chiang Mai and planning a border run soon, now is the time to check your dates.

Seats on same-day runs can fill quickly when rules change.

Last trip before Songkran: Sunday 12 April
First trip after Songkran: Thursday 16 April
No group trips: 13, 14, 15 April

The border stays open — we're just skipping the peak holiday dates to keep your trip safe and on time.
