UW Foster MBA Thailand Study Tour 2012

UW Foster MBA Thailand Study Tour 2012 Trip Dates: March 10-24, 2012 Welcome to the 2012 Thailand Study Tour Facebook group!! We look forward to an exciting journey with all of you to Thailand!

We are excited to announce that the Thailand Study Tour in 2012 is official and your tour leaders Catherine Chin and Jesse Karp cannot wait to show you this beautiful part of the world and all the fascinating business within! With Thailand's current status as an emerging economy, the goal of the Thailand Study Tour is to explore the country's business growth and its ramifications on Thailand’s env

ironment and the local populations. This seemingly small country is immensely diverse – although the majority of people speak Thai and practice Buddhism, there are innumerable regional differences relating to culture, religion, linguistics, and socioeconomic status. In order to create a deeper understanding of the multifaceted Thai way of life, we will expose ourselves to Thailand’s three major environments– the city, the countryside, and the coast. We will visit Bangkok to see business in action, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai to understand the plight of rural subsistence communities, and Koh Samui to see tourism’s effects on Thailand’s pristine shoreline. The major theme is to examine the impact of Thailand's emerging economy on local populations and the environment, with a focus on sustainability. The objective is to explore the juxtaposition of large corporations, small businesses, rural subsistence regions, and coastal communities to learn how the world of business is changing the lives of the local Thai people throughout these various areas. The Thailand Study Tour is guaranteed to be an adventure filled with unrivaled culture, immense business potential, and of course, delicious food and thai massage!! Sawasdee,

Catherine and Jesse
