Wat Tham Suea, Kanchanaburi. 🇹🇭
Spent the day at this temple complex today. It’s home to a massive golden Buddha statue that stands about 18 meters tall, pretty impressive scale when you’re standing right under it.
The site is spread out across a hilltop, so there are a few different pagodas you can actually go inside and climb. If you make it to the top levels, you get a clear view of the surrounding rice fields and the river. It’s a good spot to see the layout of the province.
One of the more interesting things to watch was people trying to “ring” the giant gongs near the shrines. It’s not about hitting them; you have to rub the center with your palms to make it hum. Definitely takes a bit of skill most people (myself included) couldn’t get a sound out of it.It’s supposed to be a sign of “m“rit” or a pure heart if you can make it sing.
Worth the stop if you’re in the area.
