🇹🇭 Thailand is changing its entry rules – effective 15 September 2026
From 15 September, the 60-day visa exemption is being replaced by a 30-day visa exemption. Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, the US and 55 other countries and territories are on the new list.
For a normal 2–3 week holiday in Phuket or Khao Lak, nothing changes – you still fly in without a visa.
What you need to know:
✅ 30 days visa-free on arrival by air
✅ One extension of up to 30 more days at an Immigration Office (usually 1,900 THB)
✅ Entered before 15 September? You keep the period stamped in your passport
⚠️ The exemption now covers tourism only
⚠️ Land border crossings: max. 2 visa-exempt entries per calendar year
⚠️ The TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) is still mandatory – complete it online within 3 days before arrival
