✨ PHUKET’S BIG BUDDHA REOPENS TODAY — A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS ✨

Today, March 3, 2026, Phuket’s iconic Big Buddha has officially reopened to the public — and this time, under a new permanent administration.

The reopening coincides with Makha Bucha Day, one of the most important and sacred days in the Buddhist calendar, making this moment even more meaningful for believers across Thailand. 🙏

After a long period of closure, the landmark now begins a new chapter under the official management of Wat Kittisangkaram (Kata Temple). The site will operate with full legal transparency, strict religious guidelines, and responsible oversight moving forward.

📍 New official name:
Wat Kittisangkaram (Big Buddha)

🕘 Opening hours:
Daily from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

The reopening applies to a designated 15-rai permitted area, in full compliance with Royal Forest Department regulations.

Importantly, the current management is completely separate from the previous foundation, ensuring a fresh, transparent, and stable future for one of Phuket’s most important spiritual and cultural symbols.

On this sacred Makha Bucha Day, the reopening represents more than just access to a landmark — it symbolizes renewal, faith, and a new beginning for the island.

Phuket’s Big Buddha is back — and it’s here to stay. 🙌
