The Islands are open!

As of July 1st 2020, Poda Island, Chicken Island and the Hong Islands are open again. Tours are running on some days as and when they have enough customers. We would recommend a private longtail trip which we can organize for you at very reasonable price.
We are planning a trip in the next few days, excited to see what they look like after being closed for so long, it should be even more beautiful than ever :)

About an hour drive North of Krabi is Wat Ban Thong. The level of detail on the ornate decoration inside the Temple is truly amazing. Around the main building is a roofed corridor that goes round the entire building and is lined with hundreds of Monk statues.

It makes a really nice trip out that is not too difficult so an ideal place to visit for people with limited mobility.

Entrance to the main building is 50thb for foreigners.

Sunset Kayak and BBQ

We sent some of our visiting family along on the sunset kayak BBQ trip yesterday. Although it was a bit low tide, they still had a great time meandering through the cool alleyways in the mangrove forest. The BBQ after was at a nearby restaurant and was very generous with everyone getting a whole fish. prawns, sweetcorn, chicken and potato.

Kayaking in the late afternoon just as the sun is going down is a great option, its really beautiful and a whole different selection of mangrove residents are just coming out for the evening. You'll see birds, lizards, maybe some monkeys and plenty of other wildlife.

Group size is usually small on this trip, between 4 and 10 people, so it really feels like you have the whole area to yourself.

Comes highly recommended as a way of seeing the mangroves at a time when there are no other groups around and you get to feel completely immersed in nature.

Railay Beach

Took a trip to Railay Beach, the boat trip was great, just a few people in the boat and just ashort ten minutes journey. Railay West Beach is great, not too crowded, nice and clean and quiet.

Walked around to Phranang Beach but a bit more crowded so just relaxed at Railay West.

On the way back, got caught in the rain, amazing how quickly it changes from bright blue skies to torrential rain. Luckily just a short trip back.

Railay really has that Island feel to it, no cars, small paths and great beaches, water is not as clear as out at the Islands but great that its only a few minutes away.

Huey Tho Waterfall at Phanom Bencha National Park

We got there at the perfect time, just after a big rain storm. We had the place to ourselves and there was lots of water! Perfect place for a picnic and to enjoy a splash in the refreshing, clean mountain water.

The park is beautifully kept, no litter, grass cut, even leaves swept off the paths. The walk to the waterfall is about 15 minutes. The last bit is a bit of a scramble over the rocks, but quite easy. The waterfall has three levels with steps up the side to the second level, and then a bit of a climb up to the top level. But even at the bottom, there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the fantastic rain forest.

The entry fee is 100thb for adults, and definitely worth it.

Phanom Bencha National Park is about 30-40 minutes drive from Aonang.

Great for kids with perfect pools for splashing about in.
