Most day trips to Koh Hong go the same way — boat pulls up, 30 minutes on the beach for photos, boat leaves.🍃🛶💦
What they miss is the lagoon hiding behind the island. The entrance is a narrow gap in the limestone cliffs, barely wide enough for a kayak, and it only opens when the tide is right. Paddle through and the outside world just disappears — no engines, no crowds, just still green water and cliffs closing in above you.
There's also a sandbar that shows up for only a couple hours a day, connecting two islands with nothing but sand and sea on either side. Blink and you'll miss it.
