Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the extraordinary courage of the first responders, service members and everyday people who answered tragedy with selflessness.

May we also remember the unity that followed...when compassion transcended differences and strangers stood beside one another with offering strength.
