Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year festival, celebrated annually from April 13th to 15th. It’s one of the most famous and widely celebrated festivals in Thailand, known for its lively and fun-filled water fights. People splash water on each other in the streets, which symbolizes washing away bad luck and welcoming in a fresh start for the new year.
In addition to water fights, Songkran also involves various cultural and religious activities, such as visiting temples, making offerings to monks, and spending time with family. The festival is also a time to honor elders by pouring scented water on their hands, a tradition that shows respect and gratitude.
