Tohoku update from the road 🚴‍♀️🌸

This week’s journey has taken us across some of northern Japan’s most iconic landscapes—Lake Tazawa’s deep blue waters, the historic samurai district of Kakunodate, and the dramatic coastline of the Oga Peninsula in Akita Prefecture.

On cycling days, the scenery keeps changing, coastal roads, quiet countryside, and cultural landmarks like Namahage reminding us how rich this region truly is.

Still going strong as we move through the April 13–27 tour.

The first tour of the season is officially underway 🚴‍♂️

Our Tohoku guided tour has begun, and we’re excited to welcome this wonderful group of riders to Japan. Over the next days we’ll ride quiet countryside roads, visit historic villages, and experience the beauty of northern Japan together.

There’s nothing quite like the energy of the first tour of the year, new faces, fresh legs, and a season of cycling adventures ahead.

Before our first tour of the season begins, we head out on the road to ride every route ourselves.

Here we’re passing through Ouchijuku, a beautifully preserved historic village in the Tohoku region. Riding these roads ahead of the season allows us to check conditions, confirm cafés and rest stops are open, and update our routes if needed.

Sometimes we even discover a better road, a new scenic viewpoint, or a great local café worth adding to the ride.

It’s all part of making sure you enjoy the best possible cycling experience with us.

The season is almost here and the roads are looking good.
