Why Avșa?
Turkey has many famous sights and internationally well-known tourist destinations, for example Istanbul, Antalya, Alanya and Bodrum. Not so well-known among the international tourists, but quite popular among the domestic tourists (especially the citizens of Istanbul) is the lovely little island of Avșa. Many residents of the Marmara region, including Istanbul, travel to Avșa for their own holidays, and now you too have the opportunity to discover this hidden gem in the Marmara sea!

The Olimpos hotel Avșa is a family run hotel, with a hospitable, knowledgeable and service-minded staff that is committed to making your making your stay both comfortable and memorable. The hotel is open from May 15th to October 15th. Our mouth-watering and beautiful breakfast-plate is fully included in the price and will let you start your day full with energy. The hotel is strategically situated in close proximity to both the serenity of the beautiful island nature and the man-made comforts and services of the urban downtown district. The unique placement of the hotel means that you will never be far away from all that the island has to offer; the buzzing nightlife, the scenic coastline, the beautiful beaches, the serenity of the beautiful island nature and the ample shopping opportunities provided in the local mall and shops.
When you step out from the hotel, fully rested from your tranquil accommodation and full of energy from our free breakfast, you will be a mere 100m from the beaches, 200m from the marina, 150m from the bar streets and 250m from famous Tanz club, which has become a symbol of Avșa.
All of our rooms are spacious, clean and safe. All rooms have their own balcony, shower, toilet, 24/7 hot water, cable TV, free WIFI, refrigerator, kitchen and kitchen equipment. The hotel has 17 rooms and a top-floor suite with its very own terrace. In addition we have a communal area with an in-door garden where you can socialize and mingle with friends, family and other guests. Like other hotels our prices are season-dependant. What to see and do in Avșa
One of the cleanest places to swim in the Marmara Sea is the Island of Avșa, and conveniently almost the entire island is surrounded by gorgeous beaches. The island offers a unique culinary experience with plenty of locally caught fresh sea food such as fish and shellfish, which can be enjoyed with the famous locally grown wine from the island. The nights are lively as there are many bars, restaurants and live music. Avșa also offer the experience of its public transport system consisting of motor-boats. These motor-boats allows convenient access to different villages and islands like Ekinlik, Marmara island, Cinarli and various bathing bays around the island. If you prefer to drive your own vehicle that is perfectly fine if you come via the ferries from Erdek, Şarköy eller Tekirdağ as these are car ferries. The most famous bays on the island are Beyazsaray Koyu, Çınar Koyu, Mavi Koy, Değirmen Koyu, Kumtur Koyu, Manastır Koyu, Kumburnu Koyu and Altınkum Koyu. If you prefer to stroll around the island you can use the public tourist trains that traverse the island. Notable sights on the island include the Yiğitler fort and the Şahin hill, which is famous for the spectacular views it offers during the beautiful sunsets. Another sight worth mentioning is the Aziz Georgios (Aya Yorgi) monastery built in 1638, the monastery houses a library which is renowned for its hand-made manuscripts. A final noteworthy sight lies in the village of Yiğitler, where the holy burial site of Ali Dede is located. This burial site annually attracts a lot of domestic tourists.
After having enjoyed the sun, the sea and the beaches during the day, we would like to remind you not to miss the wonderful sunsets for which Avșa is famous for. The island has many bars, cafés, restaurants and music halls which will keep you fully entertained both during the day and during the long energetic nights of Avșa. The climate in Avșa
During the summer the average temperature is 30 degrees celsius and the sea is comfortable to swim in from June to September, some years even during October.
Transportation to Avșa
You can travel to Avșa in several different ways. During the summer there are daily shuttles that set out from different areas in Istanbul. During week-ends and major holidays the daily shuttle departures are doubled. Nonetheless, just to be one the safe side we recommend that you check with the shuttle company (IDO) either by phoning them or visiting their website to make sure that the departure in question has not been cancelled for some reason. In Istanbul the shuttles depart from the harbors of Bostancı and Yeni kapı with an estimated travel time of 2.5h. If you come to Avșa from the cities of Erdek, Şarköy or Tekirdağ you have the added option of brining your own vehicle as these shuttles ferry cars as well.
