It's such a pleasure when our gulet guests arrive without a hitch and full of smiles. Not only did Melisa bring them from the airport on time but they proved to be model guests with carry-on bags only - after all on a gulet holiday in Turkey all you really need is a swimsuit, shorts and a couple of tee shirts. They couldn't wait to get on OGUZ BEY and literally raced up the gangplank. With loads of space and plenty of water toys their group of 14 are going to have a great week on board and they'll absolutely love the inflatable pool!

It just seems to get hotter and hotter and in Göcek on Saturday it was very humid too when we arrived to meet our guests on luxury gulet KAPTAN YILMAZ 3. Saturday turnarounds are always hectic so Mustafa and Kaan helped carry provisions on board while Melisa looked after the guests and took them shopping for wine. Göcek marina has a new buggy so they didn't have to walk in the heat and were very grateful for the yacht's excellent air conditioning system.

FACELIFT FOR SUNWORLD 8

Every year our gulets spend time in the Bodrum shipyard for routine maintenance but this winter SUNWORLD 8 underwent quite a transformation and is looking fabulous. This classic private charter gulet is absolutely perfect for large groups of friends, or families with children. The separate entrance to the 4 forward cabins makes kids feel they have their very own boat while parents can relax in the 4 aft double cabins. Brand new teak decks, a new mainsail and a refurbishment of all 8 bathrooms are just a few of the improvements that have lifted the standard of SUNWORLD 8 to a whole new level of style and comfort.

YOUNG OR OLD A GULET CRUISE CAN BE FOR YOU

We’re often asked if a gulet charter is suitable for older people, those with mobility difficulties or for very young children. The answer is ‘YES ABSOLUTELY!’ as Saturday’s departing guests can testify. On luxury yacht KAYA GUNERI IV five little kids had a fantastic time. Safety nets around the deck rails and the watchful crew allowed parents to relax. For the smallest we provided a baby cot and a high chair. Meanwhile over on BODRUM QUEEN four guests were over 80 and have already booked again for next year. Our crews and our office staff go out of their way to lend a hand or a steady shoulder on and off the gangplank or up and down a step. We even have a wheelchair guest coming soon and we’ll be offering every assistance to make sure they have a safe, secure and amazing time on board. Photos : Kim Gould

WHAT OUR GULET GUESTS GET UP TO!
We meet them at the beginning of their charter and say goodbye at the end but what fun and games they get up to in between is often a mystery. A couple this week are due to get married in Spain but that didn't stop their pre-wedding ceremonial shenanigans on BODRUM QUEEN. The belly dancer bride and Egyptian groom were joined together by their very own bishop with a Contessa, as maid of honour, in tow. Captain Enver made a rousing speech to much applause and laughter. They're having such a great time they already want to book BODRUM QUEEN and crew for next year.

The weekend passed in a hectic blur with guests departing and plenty arriving in both Bodrum and Göcek. All were met at the airport by our SJ Travel & Yachting staff and welcomed on board by smart crew members. Each table was laden with a wonderful display of snacks and canapes and our guests immediately relaxed after a hot and tiring journey. We're sure they'll all have a fantastic week cruising Turkey's incredible Blue Voyage route.

HOW WE PROVISION YOUR GULET - 2. Buying the wine.
It goes without saying that the vast majority of our guests are keen to sample Turkish wines along with the fresh and varied food our gulet chefs skillfully produce. Our wines have improved vastly over recent years and there’s now a great choice of varieties from many regions of the country. We buy wine for each charter according to your wishes and deliver it to your gulet well before you arrive. When you step aboard a glass of perfectly chilled white or rose awaits, or red at the optimum temperature if you prefer. Just one more reason why a gulet charter in Turkey is completely stress free.

A Saturday flight delay and holiday traffic meant that our guests arrived in the late afternoon. Mustafa took 10 happy young women to 6 cabin ARIVA I and Melisa delivered a small group of friends to luxury gulet SMYRNA. Our crews are always so welcoming, offering snacks and drinks, they have a special way of making guests feel at home right from the start of their charter.
