What an amazing first time visit to the ancient library at St Catherine’s Monastery at the base of the traditional Mount Sinai in Egypt. The monk in charge is Father Justin originally from… Texas! Thanks to my local Bedouin friend living there who I randomly ran into the day before. He said there was a chance he could get me into the library in between official visits. I’ve always wanted to see the library but never mentioned it to anyone. Since I wasn’t an official scholar that was my way in. Father Justin was excellent at explaining everything and answering all my questions and showing some of the ancient manuscripts including one from the 9th or 10th century. He also showed us one of his favorite manuscripts of the Torah which had a commentary with it. He mentioned a ruined Byzantine church in Istanbul that’s fenced off that I should try to see that had the same floor plan as the church in the monastery. Next time I’m in Istanbul I’ll talk to my contacts there to get access. 🙏😍

The Noah's ark site and research is still in the news. Yesterday and today two stories were published in the British press.

They still got details wrong and make it seem like there are excavations happening soon (they're not!) but then quote me correctly saying the Turkish universities have to decide that and it's down the road but glad people are seeing the boat site in the news.
