This beautiful seafront promenade is nicknamed 'millionaires’ row'. This wide walkway, lined with date palms, fancy restaurants, outdoor play-parks and gymnasiums, stretches all the way from central Fethiye to the nature reserve and bird sanctuary in Calis.
Şehit Fethi Bey Park is built on a huge 68,000m2 and boasts open-air libraries, windmills, sculptures, play-parks and walkways. The park, the largest in the Mugla region, is situated opposite the Devlet Hastanesi (State Hospital) and looks out over the bay towards Sovalye (Knights) Island. There's all manner of seating, hammocks and green areas ideal to relax and soak in the glorious views. There's a constant sea breeze that's so welcomed during the long sunny days, windmills and waterwheels all all set in beautifully planted and scented gardens. Canals have been cleverly dressed up with rope bridges and rockeries, and the bright blue cycle lane running all the way from Fethiye runs straight through the centre.
Perhaps the main highlight of the park are the activities, for kids it's a dream! Colossal swings and climbing frames with cargo nets and zip lines, a skate park, basketball court and open-air gymnasium are just a few of the main attractions. Then there's the sculptures; contemporary fish, white galloping horses, bees and Disney characters all strategically placed throughout the grounds. The statue of the pilot Fethi Bey, whom the town and attraction are named after, is now re-homed and takes a central position in the park.
