Seems silly to me that people pay huge ammounts of money for a yacht and it's upkeep and just use a wooden plank as many yachts do

Keiren Prendeville and his delightful girlfriend Jo guests aboard last week end. Overnighted in Coldwater bay and dined at Ali's restaurant overlooking the anchorage in the bay.
Keiren is and old friend, some of you may remember him as the co presenter in 'That's life', 'Tomorrows world' travel programs and sports. he went on to writing ' The bill', Ballykiss angels and many other tv series and is presently writing a new tv serial that will come out next year.

Not all beer and skittles, spent a sleepless night last Saturday.
Anchored for the night in Turinc Bay Gulf of Fethiye.
wind got up from the NW with severe gusts. around 3/4 of the other boats heaved up anchor and left, I nearly hauled up a couple of times but things were secure so rode it out and around 5 am things settled down to a lovely Sunday.
Was not forecasted on the meteo so just goes to show you have to be prepared on the water.

What a storm today, not forecasted, blew up from the NW in minutes, luckily I was not happy with the wind fluctuations so took the sails down 15 mins earlier as had an inexperienced crew with me. we were looking for a good anchor spot near turinc bay when I saw the line squall approaching. so we were ready when it hit,
At one stage I was running down wind at 6 knots with the engine in neautral took almost full engine revs to turn her into the wind.
was very glad we have a sound yacht and a good engine.
decided to head back towards Fethiye under storm jib and we spent the rest of the afternoon in the lee of Sovaliye island. there
we had a pleasant time the sun came out and the wind died down as we wined, dined and swam.
getting reports in of a lot of damage in fethiye, people blown over, boats smashed up and sunk. I should imagine a lot of other damage around, no one hurt I hope.
