Salep drink (a flour made from wild orchid root+milk+sugar) is a winter treat we love in Turkey..

Origins of this beverage is dating back to ancient Romans..It was a popular drink not only in the land of Ottoman Empire, in 18th&19 centuries' England as well. It is a very nutritious drink and known to have some afrodisiac effects :)

Sadly, Salep plant ( a wild orchid) is becoming so close to extinction. Therefore salep harvest in Turkey is restricted by law..Let's enjoy every sip of our salep while we can..
