If you’re planning to immerse yourself in Istanbul’s culture and arts scene this weekend, we have a recommendation for you.

Step into a world where history meets imagination. Folia, invites visitors into an “enchanted garden”; a realm where nature is reinterpreted through unexpected materials, textures, and perspectives.
Inspired by the Latin word folia - meaning both leaf and madness - the exhibition creates a layered atmosphere where fantasy and reality blend effortlessly.

Earth meets sky, the familiar merges with the uncanny, and the mansion’s architecture becomes part of a living, breathing story.

Bringing together nearly one hundred artists and more than three hundred works from regions stretching from Japan to South Africa, Folia offers a multisensory journey shaped by popular culture, botanical science, and exquisite craftsmanship. It’s the kind of experience that lingers - quietly reshaping the way you see the world around you.

✨ And while you’re there, don’t miss Telezzüz - Istanbul’s first vegan fine dining restaurant, located right next to the exhibition. A perfect way to complete the experience. .ist

Midday light washes over the Historical Peninsula,
minarets rising with quiet pride above the city’s rhythm.
From this terrace, Istanbul feels paused — a moment suspended between sunlit rooftops and timeless stories.
Here, afternoons stretch softly, the breeze carries echoes of centuries, and every silhouette reminds you why this view is never just a view — it’s a feeling.

After a long day wandering through Istanbul’s rhythm — the street sounds, the scent of roasted chestnuts, the echo of Istiklal just steps away — you return here.
A quiet lane tucked away from the noise, where the city suddenly exhales.

You slide open the glass door to the balcony — enclosed, calm, and overlooking a leafy garden that feels like a secret.

It’s where time slows, the evening breeze drifts in, and the city feels miles away, even though it’s right outside your door.

Steve McCurry, one of the most influential voices in contemporary photography, unveils the world premiere of his exhibition The Haunted Eye in Istanbul. The exhibition takes place at Tophane-i Amire Culture and Art Center, a landmark whose very stones carry the weight of history. Built in the 15th century by order of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror as the empire’s great cannon foundry, the vast domed halls once echoed with the forging of artillery that shaped the destiny of empires. Centuries later, this monumental complex has been reimagined as one of Istanbul’s most atmospheric cultural venues, where art and history converge beneath soaring brick vaults.

It is within this extraordinary setting that McCurry presents nearly 200 works drawn from a prolific career spanning five decades. Bringing together iconic images and photographs never before shown, The Haunted Eye traces the photographer’s journeys from South Asia and the Middle East to Africa and Latin America. His work transcends the act of documentation, transforming moments into enduring narratives through a mastery of color, light, and emotion. Beyond the legendary Afghan Girl portrait of 1984, the exhibition reveals a tapestry of faces, rituals, and landscapes that form a universal story of human existence.

By unfolding within the centuries-old architecture of Tophane-i Amire, the exhibition acquires a layered dialogue: between past and present, empire and individual, memory and image. This resonance elevates The Haunted Eye beyond a retrospective, turning it into a meditation on time, geography, and humanity itself.

First comes the garden. A sea of green stretching across Beykoz, where old trees lean into the breeze and birdsong filters through the leaves. It feels like the city has paused here, softened, grown quieter.

And then — the house of glass. Step inside Cam ve Billur Müzesi and the silence changes. Sunlight fractures into prisms, chandeliers sparkle as if still humming with the music of forgotten salons, crystal bowls glimmer with stories of sultans and soirées. It’s not an exhibition, it’s a stage where time performs in fragments of reflection.

Outside, the garden holds you in its calm embrace; inside, glass bends the light into memory. Two worlds, one alive with green, the other alive with shimmer — together shaping one of Beykoz’s most spellbinding secrets. ✨

Istanbul’s Hidden Industrial Romance

Few museums in Istanbul capture the poetry of motion like the Rahmi M. Koç Museum. From classic automobiles with curves that whisper of bygone glamour, to the rhythmic presence of trains that once stitched continents together, every exhibit feels alive. The carriages, ferries, and aircraft are not just machines, but storytellers—reminders of how we’ve crossed distances, bridged cultures, and dreamed of speed. To wander here is to wander through the very heartbeat of the modern age.

Here’s a new spot suggestion from us—especially for those drawn to bold contemporary art and layered storytelling.

Ahmet Güneştekin’s monumental solo exhibition, The Lost Alphabet, unfolds across the historic halls of Feshane-i Amire—now Istanbul’s newly restored cultural landmark.

Presented by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and curated by Christoph Tannert, the exhibition brings together sculptures, installations, sound works, and textiles that weave mythologies, lost languages, and personal memory into sculptural form.

Güneştekin explores the tension between material and meaning—juxtaposing stone and metal, ancient Anatolian coins and forgotten alphabets, personal objects and shared histories. His works echo both the fragility of language and the resilience of cultural memory, forming a visual and spatial dialogue across time.

Built in the 5th century by Emperor Theodosius II as part of the formidable land walls of Constantinople, Yedikule Fortress — or the “Fortress of Seven Towers” — has stood for over 1,500 years at the edge of the Marmara Sea. Originally home to the Golden Gate, a triumphal arch used to welcome victorious emperors into the city, it later became a stronghold under Ottoman rule and eventually a high-security prison.

Its dungeons held diplomats, dissidents, and even royalty. Silence lingers in the chambers below, where carved graffiti and rusted iron remind you of those who waited — sometimes in chains — for a fate decided by the empire.

But walk up the narrow spiral staircases and the mood changes. As you reach the top of the fortress, a different kind of awe sets in.

From here, Istanbul stretches out in a breathtaking panorama: Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet in the distance, the Bosphorus glinting under the sun, and the modern city rising with ambition just beyond the ancient domes.

It’s a rare moment where you don’t just observe history — you feel suspended in it. One foot in the empire, the other in the now.
