Today, on April 23, we mark National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Türkiye. Established by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1920, this day honors the foundation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and recognizes children as the guardians of our shared future.

As we reflect on the weight of history and the hope carried by each generation, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where every child’s voice is heard, and their potential nurtured.

Celebrating International Women's Day with a Trailblazer: Hatice Nüzhet Gökdoğan

On this March 8, International Women's Day, we honor Hatice Nüzhet Gökdoğan (1910-2003), Türkiye’s first female astronomer and a pioneer for women in science.

At a time when few women had access to higher education, she charted a new course—becoming a leading academic, shaping astronomy in Türkiye, and advocating for gender equality in STEM.

At Columbia Global Center Istanbul, we are inspired by her legacy as we continue to foster knowledge, innovation, and leadership—amplifying women’s voices in academia, research, and global discourse.

Just like Gökdoğan, we believe in breaking barriers and creating opportunities for the next generation of changemakers!
