The charming village of Gocek is an environmental protection area and main yachting centre.
🔺Sail around the great promontory known as Kapi Dag to the quiet anchorage of Agalimani, where you go ashore and climb to the ruins of Lydae. These include two massive Roman tombs, an agora, a council chamber and a fortress. The setting could not be idyllic.
🔺Explore the many coves and islets of the broad and beautiful Gulf of Fethiye, stopping at the drowned Roman bath, romantically but erroneously, as Cleopatra’s bath.
🔺Sail on to Gemiler Island, which is indisputably one of the loveliest places on Turkey’s south coast. It is also of great historical interest since its landward side is covered with the ruins of a 6th century Byzantine town, complete with churches, houses, tombs and commercial buildings.

Ayşe Erkmen graduated from Mimar Sinan University's Department of Sculpture in 1997. In 1993, she participated in the DAAD International Artist Residency Program (Berliner Künsterprogramm) in Berlin. From 1998 to 1999 Erkmen worked as the Arnold Bode Professor at Kassel Art Academy, and as lecturer at Frankfurt Staedeschule (2000-2007). In 2002, she was awarded the Maria Sibylla Merian prize at Hessen Province Germany. A leading figure in the international art world, Ayşe Erkmen has exhibited continuously in national and international museums, art galleries and biennials over the last 20 years. Erkmen produces works, which emphasize thought and add new dimensions to the perception of time. She continues to render the hidden meanings of space she works in with her ephemeral, volatile site-specific sculptures. Erkmen lives and works in Berlin and Istanbul.
