The SITE Türkiye member gathering once again took place on a delightful boat cruise along the Bosphorus. AllThough many of us have sailed these waters countless times, we still relish the opportunity to come together, enjoying the stunning views of both coasts and the changing colors of the sky at sunset. This traditional Bosphorus gathering also supports our sustainable project, the School Support Association (ODD). For the past four years, members have been sponsoring English classes through ODD, and we look forward to continuing this important work for many more years to come. ✨ Bulgur Palas Revived!

Bulgur Palas, one of Istanbul's hidden gems, was designed by the famous Italian architect Giulio Mongeri during the Ottoman Empire. However, due to economic difficulties, the building was abandoned before its completion.

🏰 Giulio Mongeri's elegant design blends Ottoman and European architectural elements, offering a dazzling aesthetic. Purchased by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2021, Bulgur Palas has undergone an extensive restoration process.

Opened to visitors on February 28, 2024, the building now serves as a documentation center, archive, library, exhibition hall, and cafe, breathing new life into Istanbul's cultural scene.

You can visit this enchanting place to open another window to Istanbul's rich history. 👆

✨ Bulgur Palas Canlanıyor!

İstanbul'un gizli kalmış mücevherlerinden biri olan Bulgur Palas, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ünlü İtalyan mimar Giulio Mongeri'ye tasarlatılmış bir yapıdır. Ancak ekonomik zorluklar nedeniyle, yapı tamamlanamadan kaderine terk edilmişti.

🏰Giulio Mongeri'nin zarif tasarımı, Osmanlı ve Avrupa mimari unsurlarını harmanlayarak göz kamaştırıcı bir estetik sunuyor. 2021 yılında İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından satın alınan Bulgur Palas, kapsamlı bir restorasyon sürecinden geçirildi.

28 Şubat 2024'te ziyarete açılan bina, artık bir belge merkezi, arşiv, kütüphane, sergi salonu ve kafe olarak hizmet veriyor ve İstanbul'un kültürel yaşamına yeni bir soluk getiriyor.

Did you know Santa Claus is from Türkiye? Saint Nicholas, the beloved figure who inspired modern-day Santa, was a 4th-century bishop born in Patara, near present-day Demre (Myra) in Türkiye. Renowned for his kindness, generosity, and miraculous deeds, Saint Nicholas became the patron saint of sailors, merchants, children, and travelers. Over centuries, his legacy evolved into the mythical "Santa Claus," blending his Christian heritage with Father Christmas, a festive figure from medieval Esymbolizing merriment and good cheer. This fusion was further shaped in the 20th century, with a companies marketing campaigns cementing Santa's iconic image as the red-robed, jolly gift-giver we cherish today. The Mevlevis, followers of Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi, commemorate the anniversary of his Vuslat, or reunion with the Divine, as a profound spiritual event. Known as Şeb-i Arus (the “Wedding Night”), it marks Rumi’s passing on December 17, 1273, which he regarded as the night he was united with his Beloved, God. This year it is the 751st Vuslat with ceremonies, including the mesmerizing Sema dance, where Whirling Dervishes embody Rumi’s teachings of love, unity, and the journey to divine connection. This event is celebrated worldwide, reflecting Rumi’s enduring message of universal love and spiritual transcendence.
