The Maiden Tower is one of the most famous structure of Istanbul since Byzantine era. İt is located in coast of Üsküdara area. The Maiden Tower has been inspired of many films, poems and books. The legend of its name is taken from a Byzantine princess who was closed here. But She didn’t escape from her fate. Nowadays it serves as restaurant and cruise tower. Topkapı Palace History
Topkapı Palace was the home of Ottoman Sultans and heart of Ottoman Empire between 1478 – 1856. 25 Ottoman Sultans were ruled to Ottoman Empire from Topkapı Palace. Also Topkapı Palace was build as administrative, court, educational place of the Ottoman Sultans and princes. Local people called it as "Topkapi" that Turkish means "Gate of Cannons" because of huge cannons displayed outside of the Gates, those cannons were used during the Conquest. After the conquest, Sultan II. Mehmed (Conqueror Of Constantinople) ordered to built his palace and İt is constructed between 1460 – 1478. Topkapı Palace entered the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985.

After the conquest of İstanbul, II. Mehmed ordered to builded a new palace on the ancient Byzantine ruins to current location. At the same time, a small palace was built on Beyazıt area, nowadays known as University of İstanbul. İts called old palace. Conqueror Sultan Mehmed then had to built The Tiled Pavilion firstly and following buildings of Topkapı Palace. When construction was complete, it is called The New Palace (Sarây-ı Cedid). Topkapı Palace renovated and expanded over the centuries. Also, İt was one of the most important place for Ottoman state mind and relations between citizens and the other countries. The palace complex was designed with gardens, imperial offices, pavilions and ceremonial fields. Topkapı Palace had approximately 700,000 m2 of area with Royal garden as known Rose Garden (Hasbahçe) during establishment years, nowadays Topkapı Palace has 80,000 m2 of area because of constructions and due to soil separations.

Middle of 1850s, Topkapı Palace was stuck for cerenomies and protocols, and Topkapı Palace is moved with state managemet to Dolmabahçe Palace In time of Sultan Abdülmecit. Topkapı Palace was converted as a museum at 1924, after end of Ottoman Dynasty.

Sultan Ahmed Mosque is most important Ottoman symbol. Sultan Ahmed Mosque is known as The Blue Mosque by foreign people and tourists due to blue tiles on the walls. Blue Mosque is most important and familiar mosque in İstanbul. The most distinctive feature of the Blue Mosque that is first six minares mosque in Ottoman history. The Blue Mosque is standing opposite side of Hagia Sophia and beside Byzantine Hippodrome. Sultan Ahmet Mosque is entered to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985 under name the Istanbul Historical Areas.

The Blue mosque was built by royal architect Sedefkar Mehmet Aga with Sultan Ahmed I order at between 1609 – 1616. The Blue Mosque was built on site of old Byzantine Palace. Beginning of the 17th cenutry, it was a hard time for Ottoman Empire and They made war for 15 years with Austria – Hungary Empire. Sultan ahmed I decided to build a huge mosque in İstanbul. İt was not built only a mosque

The design of The Blue Mosque has Byzantine and traditional islamic architecture traces. . The Blue Mosque has one main dome and eight secondary domes, four pillars and six minarets with three The tiles on the wall of the mosque are made in İznik (Nicea), Bursa entrances. The Mosque’s interior walls decorated with more than 20 thousans tiles. The main dome and the smaller domes are standing on four huge pillars. Main dome is 34 meters height and about 260 windows are taking sunlight. Marble Mihrab shows direction of Mecca.

Time of Ottoman Empire and Turkish Republic everyday five times Muslims pray in The Blue Mosque. 400 years after construction, The Blue Mosque still serves people.
