OPOS Tours & Travel - Turkey Our People Our Story OUR STORY
OPOS Tours and Travel was established by Sonja Goodwin Tanner and Christopher Prescott.

Both owners are enrolled Native American Tribal members. Together they formed OPOS Tours and Travel in the hopes of sharing “Our People, Our Story” with the rest of the world. We want people to see beyond what may have been published and taught by others about all cultures of the world. OPOS then expanded to Turkey where we; Gokhan Dogan and Sara Korukcu, experts in the Tourism sector, manage the

branch located in the heart of Old Istanbul. We share the same passion as Chris and Sonja and thus we are committed to offering people from around the world the ideal opportunity to experience the best of Turkey. From the rich history and culture residing in every corner of Istanbul, the once Byzantine and Ottoman empires’ capital, to the unspoiled nature and magnificent scenery in the numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Turkey such as Cappadocia and Pamukkale. Our aim is to help you enjoy Turkey’s unique ambience where the east meets the west and Europe crosses paths with Asia. We offer a variety of custom, private, and general tours to the interest of everyone. From Daily City Tours in the charming city of Istanbul to all regions of Turkey. We will guide you through our lands, into our culture, our languages, our foods, to hear our history as can only be known by us. Our guides will share our stories and teach the rich history and wisdoms of our people which remains as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago. Our tailor made tours offer you the choice to meet with one of our Cultural Ambassadors to help design your own tour. In addition to tourism, we organize conferences and meetings for various organizations and businesses. We have developed a loyal client-base and earned a good reputation for the diversity in our tours. We are IATA certified with an ARC license and a member of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB).

Let's celebrate women's day with Halet Çambel. 👩
Mrs, Çambel was the first Muslim woman to compete in the Olympic Games (1936 Summer Olympics). 🧕
Although being an athlete during her youth, she turned to be a notorious archaeologist later in life. 🔨
Due to the excavations held in Karatepe she was able to decipher the Hittite Hieroglyphics, giving us a new insight of the history in our lands. 📜

Mardin is a truly spectacular feat of architecture and history that has remained a bit of a secret in terms of tourism. The capital of the Mardin province, Mardin’s old city is on a hill that overlooks the empty green valley and inspires thoroughly with its Artuqid architecture, winding labyrinthine streets, and delicious food.

Mount Nemrut is one of the most fascinating ancient places in Turkey. Although the country abounds in magnificent relics of antiquity, Mount Nemrut certainly deserves the place on the top ten list of the archaeological hits of Asia Minor. Moreover, the hierothesion of Antiochus is a sensational sight on a global scale. At the same time, it is an archaeological site that still holds many secrets. Until now, it has not been possible to determine with certainty what the artificial embankment on the peak of the mountain conceals. What's more, astronomy enthusiasts can try to solve the mystery of the famous "lion horoscope" placed on one of the bas-reliefs decorating the mountain. Finally, the huge sculptures on Mount Nemrut are a perfect illustration of religious syncretism and Antiochus' attempt to introduce a new state cult that combined Greek, Persian and Armenian influences.
