You’ll likely only get to see the exposed dome of Hagia Sophia once in a lifetime. This significant 6th-century landmark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is currently undergoing major restoration.

Construction work is also taking place inside, and it’s quite a sight to see the massive scaffolding stretching all the way to the center of the dome, reaching a height of nearly 56 meters.

The dome is currently being reinforced with specially manufactured steel structures to improve its strength and resistance to the elements.

Lake Van is the largest lake in Turkey 🇹🇷 (surface area 3.755 km2 , max. length 119 km, max. depth 451 m), located in Eastern Anatolia. It is a saline soda lake, receiving water from numerous small streams that descend from the surrounding mountains.

Lake Van is one of the world's largest endorheic lakes (having no outlet). The lake water is strongly alkaline and rich in sodium carbonate and other salts, which are extracted by evaporation and used as detergents.
