The NS Mircea, an 82-metre-long training ship of the Romanian Navy, which was built in 1938 at the shipyards in Hamburg, made a brief stop in Istanbul.

This sailing-ship, A-class, bark type has 3 masts and 23 mainsails.

You’ll likely only get to see the exposed dome of Hagia Sophia once in a lifetime. This significant 6th-century landmark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is currently undergoing major restoration.

Construction work is also taking place inside, and it’s quite a sight to see the massive scaffolding stretching all the way to the center of the dome, reaching a height of nearly 56 meters.

The dome is currently being reinforced with specially manufactured steel structures to improve its strength and resistance to the elements.
