The Şevket Özçelik Sokak, better known as “Sevgi yolu” (Love Road). Some people call it also the Street with the stars on the ground, or the Street with the palm trees. It is situated between the Swissôtel and the Childrens Hospital in Alsancak.
On this little nice pedestrian Street, there are many Bookstores aswell. In one of them called “Köprü”, you will find also lots of 2nd hand Books in English and German, also some in Spanish and French. They are mainly open in the afternoon.

It commemorates liberation of İzmir from the Greek occupation by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1922.

Yassıca Ada
The Yassıca Island, meaning also 'flat island' is a small island in front of Urla. In the summer holiday months (16.June - 10. September) there are ferrys that go over there from Izmir. It is a nice day trip to do with children. The Ferry leaves in general from Karşıyaka at 08:30, then stops at Üçkuyular at 9:00 and will then arrive at Yassıca island at 10:15. In the evening, the Ferry leaves Yassıca island at 17:45, beeing in Izmir at 19:00. Tickets are 22 TL, children under 6 years are free. They work daily, exept Mondays. Photography Exhibition. Starting on Wednesday, June 6th at 12pm, there will be a photo Exhibition at the Izmir Sanat Merkezi (Its inside the Fuar, at the 26.August Door entrance). You can see many great pictures and if you like one or more, you can purchase them. The proceeds/100%profit of it will go to the children's Hospital. Don't miss having at least a look at them!
