The sweetest holiday in Turkiye… and here’s why👇

In Turkiye, Eid al-Fitr is also known as the “Sugar Feast”, because of all the sweets shared during the holiday.

It’s a time when families visit elders, homes are filled with guests and tables are prepared with traditional dishes and desserts like baklava. 🤗

Visits are usually short, so in every home you’re welcomed with cologne, candy and something sweet, often Turkish coffee and dessert.

One of the most meaningful traditions is that younger people show respect by greeting elders and in return, elders give small gifts or holiday money to children.
In the past, this was often given with a clean handkerchief.

Before the holiday, children get new clothes and on the first day, they proudly wear them and visit neighbors to collect candies or small gifts.
