Ireland’s Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) is one of the main pathways for highly-skilled non-EU nationals to live and work in Ireland long-term. It is designed to attract workers with skills that are in strong demand in the Irish economy. Who Is Eligible? Have a job on the Critical Skills Occupations List • ICT professionals (software engineers, data scientists, cybersecurity, etc.) • Engineers • Health professionals • Scientists • Business/financial analysts • Certain managerial roles Application Process - Employer will submit the permit via the Employment Permits Online System (EPOS) - If approved, you get a grant letter, and the permit is issued to the employer before it then sent to the employee. - Apply for an Irish Entry Visa using the issued permit under a D-visa to enter Ireland. - When you finally arrive in Ireland, you will have to register with immigration • Visit your local Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) office. • Receive an IRP (Irish Residence Permit). The Permit validity: 2 years One of the biggest advantages of CSEP is the clear path to long-term residency: After 2 years: You can apply for a Stamp 4 (renewable residence permission), which allows you to: • Work in Ireland without an employment permit • Change employers freely • Start a business - After 5 years in total: You wil be eligible for long-term residency or eventually citizenship through naturalisation (usually after 5 years of residence). Your Family Members Join You. Your spouse/partner & dependent children can join you in Ireland under the CSEP. Your spouse/partner will receive a Stamp 1G, allowing them to work full-time without needing a work permit. This is a major benefit compared to other Irish work permits.
