Accountabilities
To provide discipline engineering support to operating assets to ensure operation within design and reliability envelope and to ensure mechanical integrity and performance are sustained.
To provide mechanical engineering support to Cat C projects and modifications to ensure engineering integrity and cost effective design is built in.
Identify opportunities to drive optimization and continuous improvement to deliver better business performance.
Coach and mentor mechanical engineers to build and embed sustainability of engineering capability.
Coordinate and performance manage discipline engineers and contractors
reporting to them.
Decide discipline work prioritization to meet business need. Coordinate additional support with Director of Engineering (including UEC) if necessary.
Development and delivery of F4S plan for mechanical discipline. Help in development of standards and ensures compliance and provides expert judgment and conducts self verification.
Integration and competence of all discipline engineers in Region.
Learning and continuous improvement.
Provide specialized discipline design and operating support to other teams such as AEST, Projects and Modifications, Reliability and Maintenance, and Subsea.
Cross region discipline engineering in support of ETPs, F4S and priority projects.
Conduct RCFA and defect elimination across region towards improvement. Advise discipline improvements in plant reliability and optimization across area.
• Drive a culture of mechanical engineering rigour and discipline
across projects and day-to-day operations
• Support senior management in decision-making in understanding
mechanical engineering risks and developing solutions to reduce them.
• Lead or participate in hazard identification, risk analysis, HAZOPs and LOPAs.
• Review all MOC’s related to Mechanical engineering discipline and
provide recommendations
Procedures
• Lead implementation of (guidance, training, etc.) of mechanical
engineering practices and initiatives (STP ETP, GIS, GN, etc.) as well
as participate in there revision.
• Provide technical input to operating procedures and maintenance strategies.
• Feedback potential concerns or issues to Technical Authorities.
Assets
• Provide mechanical engineering direction
• Provide detail design input requirement to small projects.
• Guide and review the work of mechanical engineers and contractors
• Provide discipline engineering support and technical guidance to the
Onshore and Offshore Area Operations, Projects, Maintenance and
Construction teams to ensure safe, compliant and reliable operations.
• Consider potential application of new technology
• Support operations in the resolution of mechanical engineering
defects and the development of plant optimization proposals.

• Liaise with local HSSE personnel to ensure requirements are
addressed in Engineering
Results
• Provide mechanical engineering support for generation of metrics,
assessments & audits, performance reviews and budget management
• Drive detail design ex*****on efficiency to reduce rework• Drive
pro-active, systematic problem resolution across Area Teams, with a
focus on defect elimination
• Support other interfacing parties including P&M, TAR, IM and cross functional
• Lead the mechanical discipline engineering team , develop capability
(resource & competence),
• drive HSSE and Engineering Quality culture. Ensure technical
integrity to assets through the safe and consistent application of
laws/regulations, industry codes and standards.
• Manage the delivery of discipline engineering services to the
Operations organization
• Execute key cross asset work processes (common procedures) and
ensure standardization of technical specifications.
• Lead development of Regional ME annual work activity, including
identifying areas which require central support to

• Provide input to Region annual plans & budgets for ME sub-discipline
related activities
• Manage the ME sub-discipline team, understand team capability, and
provide leadership & guidance in team development
• Ensure appropriate allocation of Region DE ME support to the
sub-functions(e.g.P&M,TAR,AEST,R&M)
• Monitor Region static ME health and work with the GOOME DL on
deployment and succession planning in the Region
Setting Standards, Policies and Processes
• Support the implementation of Region’s engineering self-verification
practices.
• Act as the key ME interface across Region’s
sub-functions:R&M,IM,P&M,AEST,TAR and Quality.
• Communicate and maintain Region ME processes and tools and verify
consistent application.
• Serve as custodian of assigned Region ME technical specifications
