Tourism Industry Association of Trinidad and Tobago (TIATT) Forges Historic Alliance with Consular
representatives to Enhance Visitor Safety and Industry Resilience PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND
TOBAGO – July 24, 2025
The Tourism Industry Association of Trinidad and Tobago (TIATT) today announced a landmark collaboration
With the consular representatives from the embassies of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom,
Australia, and Germany. This historic meeting, held at The Chancellor Hotel in St. Ann's, marks a significant
step in TIATT's mission to invigorate its members under the tagline, "Tourism is our business."
In light of challenges affecting the tourism sector, TIATT reaffirmed its strong commitment to confronting critical
issues. TIATT also acknowledged foreign missions' prerogative to safeguard their citizens through travel
advisories. Nevertheless, TIATT emphasized its role as a primary responder to the consular representatives in
crisis situations, particularly when registered tourism operators require timely support within the scope of its
operational responsibilities.
Discussions with the consulars focused on actionable strategies for TIATT members to collaborate on visitor
safety. TIATT also reiterated its dedication to ensuring safety compliance among all registered tourism
operators.
Key points highlighted during the discussions included Trinidad and Tobago's consistent city police presence
during peak cruise and Carnival seasons. Further proposals for enhancing visitor safety included the
implementation of dedicated Tourism Policing, improved signage, and comprehensive awareness programs.
With the recent establishment of the Ministry of Homeland Security, TIATT expressed optimism about a
strengthened commitment to public safety and security. TIATT intends to present viable solutions identified
during these discussions to the Ministry of Homeland Security, anticipating a profound positive impact on the
industry's overall stability.
TIATT is committed to ongoing collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, engaging in joint discussions to
propose initiatives that will enhance preparedness and responsiveness within the industry. The association
