Another day, another year,
One year has just slipped away.
We’ve made it through thick and thin,
But now what can we say?
Did we succeed in all our plans
That we so boldly made?
Or did we just survive the year
Despondent and afraid?
Did we grow inwardly
In wisdom, peace and strength?
Or find ourselves just struggling
With our resolve completely spent?
Whatever the case, one thing is sure,
It’s all behind us now.
But as we plunge into this year
We should ask ourselves,
how.
How can we learn from past experiences
And what we’ve done last year
So better versions of ourselves we become
In those things that we hold dear.
So as we chart a new course
With plans we want unspoiled
Remember ‘Unless the Lord builds the house
In vain do the labourers toil.
Let God be your architect,
Your strength, support and guide.
Then no matter what the trials
He’ll never leave your side.
And after all is said and done
Success and growth you’ll find
Things of true importance
That will bring true peace of mind.
