At our recently concluded Tourism Investment Forum, held in collaboration with the T&T Chamber of Industry & Commerce, stakeholders were given a deep dive into the uniquely attractive proposition of investing in tourism in Trinidad & Tobago.

The forum included expert insights about the competitive advantages for investing in tourism as well as the suite of incentives available under the Tourism Development Act (TDA) 2000. Tourism Trinidad Limited, in partnership with the Health Services Unit of the University of the West Indies, has commenced a six-day First Aid and CPR Training Programme at the Couva Medical and Multi-Training Facility, which began on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025. With ten participants trained each day, a total of sixty individuals will receive internationally recognised certification by the end of the programme.

Facilitated by Shobha Maharaj-Dookie M.A.Ed., BSN, this ongoing training is equipping key tourism stakeholders such as tour guides, tour operators, small accommodation providers, event space managers, community groups, and others across the tourism services sector with essential emergency response skills.

This training forms part of Tourism Trinidad’s commitment to enhancing health and safety standards while continuing to fine-tune our destination product for the benefit of both visitors and locals alike. By investing in industry training and capacity building, we are reinforcing our goal of delivering a safer, more professional, and visitor-ready Trinidad.

Tourism Trinidad Limited recently welcomed a group of 11 students and 2 officers from Martinique under EduCarib’s Language & Cultural Immersion Programme. Officers from our Destination Development as well as Research, Strategy & Marketing teams delivered an engaging presentation on Destination Trinidad, spotlighting our vibrant cultural experiences, rich tourism offerings, and the business behind the magic of our tourism product.

This meaningful exchange not only deepened the students' academic and cultural understanding but also strengthened Trinidad’s positioning as a premier location for future EduCarib educational and professional mobility programmes across the Caribbean. Tourism Trinidad Limited was pleased to welcome the Grenada Tourism Authority along with key stakeholders from Silversands Grenada, Royalton Grenada, and Arleen's Destination Management Company for a courtesy call at our head office in Port of Spain.

This insightful meeting focused on strengthening tourism ties between our neighbouring destinations, with discussions around:
- Enhancing airline connectivity
- Future collaborations for Spice Mas and Trinidad Carnival
- Joint advertising opportunities with a focus on digital marketing and radio
- Travel trends, including corporate, trade, and event-driven travel

The Grenadian delegation also shared valuable insights into their travellers’ key reasons for visiting Trinidad, while noting the large diaspora in Grenada eager to reconnect with home.

Both destinations are committed to reviving interest in regional travel and cross-island experiences.

On Wednesday 2nd July, 2025, Tourism Trinidad Limited (TTL) had the pleasure of meeting with Professor Pathmanathan Umaharan, Director of the UWI Cocoa Research Centre (CRC), and his team Darin Sukha and Carla Boodoo, to discuss the development of the Cocoa Innovation Centre and Chocolate Factory as a potential tourism experience for Destination Trinidad.

TTL’s team from the Destination Development Department enjoyed a guided tour of the facility, a tasting of the exquisite SPIRIT fine chocolates crafted on site, and an inside look at plans for the Cocoa Innovation Centre and Chocolate Factory which is a potential game-changer for culinary, sustainable agritourism and heritage tourism.
