Following our report yesterday on the tragic incident at Pigeon Point Heritage Park, this is a reminder to the public that major marine sites remain CLOSED today, Thursday, April 9, 2026.

🚫 𝗦𝗛𝗨𝗧𝗗𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗜𝗡 𝗘𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗖𝗧
The Division of Tourism, Antiquities and Creative Industries and the Division of Environment, Climate Resilience and Energy have suspended all activities at the following locations:

𝐏𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤

𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤

This closure includes:

🚫All reef boat operations and glass-bottom boat tours

🚫All organized tours and excursions

🚫All sea bathing and recreational water activities

⚖️ 𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
As reported yesterday, these measures follow the heartbreaking death of a seven-year-old child who succumbed to injuries after a jet ski incident at Pigeon Point. The operator involved reportedly fled the scene, and the matter remains under active investigation by the relevant authorities.

📋 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪
The closure is being used to facilitate thorough safety assessments and a review of operational controls within these protected zones. Officials are working to strengthen monitoring and enforcement to prevent the unauthorized use of watercraft in designated bathing areas.

The Tobago House of Assembly continues to express its deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time.

Management of the Store Bay Beach Facility advises the public that 𝗻𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲 is to be charged 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 at the facility’s car park. ❗𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀.❗

No individual is authorized to collect or request payment for the use of the car park. Members of the public are strongly urged 𝗻𝗼𝘁 to pay anyone who approaches them for a fee.

If you are approached, please report the incident immediately to the Security Officer on duty.
