Did you know Taiwan has 168 islands?

Though most people think of Taiwan as just one island, it's actually an archipelago made up of 168 naturally occurring islands, each with its own unique charm.

Here’s a quick island-hopping highlight:
- Penghu – Famous for basalt cliffs and wind-swept coasts.
- Green Island – Snorkeling, coral reefs, and hot springs await.
- Orchid Island – Home to the Tao people and rich indigenous culture.
- Xiaoliuqiu – A coral island where sea turtles swim close to shore.

- Taiping & Dongsha Islands – Remote and ecologically significant, located in the South China Sea.

Whether you’re into marine life, heritage villages, or volcanic landscapes, Taiwan’s islands offer a sea of surprises. 🌺🛶

Spectacular Hikes #1: One of our favourites, the Walami Trail can be enjoyed as an afternoon's walk, or for the more adventurous as the start of a multi-day hike that connects with the famed Batongguan Trail an ancient mountain route used by indigenous hunters. Along the way you'll cross vertiginous suspension bridges, pass huge waterfalls, and Japanese-era police outposts, and maybe spot some wildlife - monkeys, eagles and Swinhoe's Pheasants are all prevalent here.
