Never thought a yueqin (moon lute) performance in Pingtung would be so healing. 🎶

At the Hengchun Cultural Center Folk Music Hall, we sat and listened to the purest melodies and the most heartfelt singing.

Within moments, a sense of peace came over the whole group. Our Malaysian friends said: “This music needs no translation—we feel it.” That’s the magic of Hengchun folk music.

📍Howan Community｜Fishing Village Walk & Sea Salt Amulet DIY 🐚
Every trip has a special moment, and this time we found it at Howan Community in Pingtung.

With a local guide, we learned about fishing village life, ecology, and stories of the sea. The highlight? Sea Salt Amulet DIY!

Natural sea salt collected from the coastline is placed into tiny glass bottles—close your eyes, make a wish, and let this amulet safeguard your wish (or carry the ocean's blessing).

Our Malaysian friends loved the experience and said they’d keep the amulet as a special souvenir.

My first step into the Shizi Township Cultural Museum left me with one thought: “Culture truly has power.”

📍The Paiwan Ki cacepeliw artifacts, once housed at the Swedish National Museum of World Culture, finally “came home from across the sea” after a century.

The exhibition is more than just artifacts—it reveals the connection between the tribe/community and its history.

As a Malaysian traveler visiting Pingtung for the first time, I was deeply moved by this idea of “coming home.”
