謝謝版畫工作室 Texture版畫工作室的邀請，讓我們有機會參與現在在德國展開的《從居住文化到版印：台灣紋樣的重新詮釋》（Von der Wohnkultur zur Druckgrafik: Neuinterpretation taiwanischer Muster）展覽。 Texture版畫工作室工作室 邀請藝術家使用不同廣興的手工紙材，讓紙張的質感、城市的建築、文化的記憶與版畫的技術互相交織。
這次的展覽運用版畫，以建築切入，把這些日常立面展示成可供拆解、閱讀的歷史切片。
台灣的歷史，是一段不斷疊加、彼此交融的混合（hybrid）身世。對我們來說這樣的混合性，成就了台灣多元、包容、韌性的人文風景。台灣的街頭巷弄，正是一部攤開的歷史，在建築一磚一瓦間，藏著不同文化留下的痕跡。從荷治時期的紅磚、日治時期的洋樓、戰後的現代主義立面，乃至家家戶戶腳下的花磚 —— 這些在台灣日常並存於同一條街上的元素，印證著台灣每一個歷史片段。
四位參展藝術家各自剖開台灣建築的不同層次：李宣霈將立面視為「歷史的肖像」。李彥蓁從仿洋樓裝飾出發，結合音樂盒回望生活文化的變遷。王亭暄捕捉建築在使用中「持續生成」的狀態。吳沛宸則拼貼台南街景，重組出一條不曾存在，卻盛滿集體記憶的街道。
在當代藝術脈絡中，版畫因具備「複數性」與「間接性」的特質，歷來是文化傳播與思想轉譯的重要媒介。藝術家透過製版複製、印製壓印的痕跡，將剛硬的、客觀的建築符號，轉化爲帶有敘事溫度的版印作品。
紙張藏於其間，邀請德國觀者用視覺去感受，從作品、紙張紋理裡，親身體會台灣島嶼藏在日常生活中的歷史肌理。

We would like to thank the printmaking studio Texture Printmaking Studio for the invitation and for giving us the opportunity to take part in the exhibition: From Living Culture to Printmaking: Reinterpreting Taiwanese Patterns, currently on view in Germany.
For this exhibition, Texture Printmaking Studio invited artists to work with a selection of handmade papers from the mill, allowing the textures of paper, urban architecture, cultural memory, and printmaking techniques to intertwine.
Through the medium of printmaking, the exhibition approaches Taiwan through its architecture, presenting the façades of everyday life as historical fragments that can be examined, deconstructed, and read.
Taiwan’s history is one of continuous layering, intermingling, and hybridity. To us, this hybridity has shaped the diverse, inclusive, and resilient cultural landscape of Taiwan.
Taiwan’s streets and alleyways are like an open book of history. Within every brick and tile are traces left behind by different cultures: the red bricks of the Dutch colonial period, Western-style townhouses from the Japanese colonial era, modernist façades that emerged after the war, and the patterned tiles found beneath the feet of countless households.
Each of the four participating artists reveals a different layer of Taiwan’s architectural landscape.
Peggy Lee regards the architectural façade as a “portrait of history.” Yenjen Lee begins with the decorative language of Western-style townhouses, combining it with the form of a music box to reflect on transformations in everyday culture. Ting-husan Wang captures architecture as something that continues to evolve through use. Pei-chen Wu collages street scenes from Tainan, reconstructing a street that has never existed, yet is filled with collective memory.
Paper lies quietly within these works, inviting audiences in Germany to experience Taiwan visually and sensorially. Through the images and the textures of the paper, viewers are invited to encounter the historical layers of the island as they are embedded in everyday life.
