A Scenic Coastal Walk to the Twin Candle Islets 🌊

Located on the coastal cape of Jinshan in New Taipei City, Sh*toushan Park is a peaceful seaside park known for its forest trails and stunning ocean views. Sitting about 70 meters above sea level and surrounded by the sea on three sides, the park offers panoramic views of Jinshan Bay, Huanggang Fishing Harbor, and Taiwan’s dramatic northern coastline.

The main trail is about 1.3 km long and easy to walk, making it ideal for a relaxing coastal stroll. Shaded by trees and cooled by sea breezes, the path also features several viewing platforms and pavilions where visitors can pause and enjoy the scenery.

A Peaceful Wetland Hidden in Hualien City

When visiting Hualien, most travelers think of dramatic coastlines and mountains—but right in the city center lies a peaceful green escape: Tianpu Ecological Pond.

Covering nearly two hectares, this wetland park was once a timber storage pond used during Taiwan’s forestry era. Logs were soaked here to preserve the wood. As forestry practices changed, the area was transformed into an ecological wetland park, and today it stands as the largest wetland in downtown Hualien.

The park is full of life. Lotus flowers bloom across the pond, aquatic plants thrive in the water, and more than 50 species of trees and shrubs provide habitat for wildlife.
