Snow in May? It's Tong Flower Season in Taichung!🌺
Every April and May, the Shuiliu East Tong Flower Trail in Waipu, Taichung transforms into a magical wonderland as thousands of white tung blossoms drift down like snowflakes. This 2.4km trail follows an ancient irrigation canal built during the Japanese colonial era — and it's one of the most enchanting hidden gems in central Taiwan.
Walk beneath a canopy of white blooms, past vineyards, tomato fields, and golden rice paddies, while breathing in the fresh forest air. Along the way, stop at Taiwan's closest viewing platform to the High-Speed Rail — you'll feel the rush as the train rockets past at 300 km/h. An unforgettable photo moment!
Want to capture the dreamy carpet of fallen white petals on the trail? Come early in the morning before visitors arrive. On weekends, a local farmers' market nearby sells fresh dragon fruit, grapes, and traditional Hakka snacks. Combine your visit with a stop at Lihpao Land amusement park or Lihpao Outlet for a full day out. Free entry, open 24 hours!
