Topology Travel was founded by travel lovers who are young at heart, and share a common vision: authentic experience by exploring Taiwan through the eyes of locals. We aim to create unique travel ex

🇮🇳 Planning a family trip from India to Taiwan? You're not alone!

This April, we had the pleasure of hosting a lovely Indian family who created unforgettable memories in Taiwan 💛

To help more families from India feel confident and excited about their journey, we’ve put together answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we receive:

✨ Top Questions Indian Families Ask Before Visiting Taiwan ✨

1️⃣ Are Indian restaurants easy to find in Taiwan?
Yes, in major cities like Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, there are many Indian restaurants, including those offering vegetarian and vegan options. However, in smaller towns or scenic areas like Yehliu, Jiufen, Shifen, Sun Moon Lake, and Alishan, Indian cuisine is not as available. In those places, we recommend local vegetarian restaurants or picking up vegetarian meals at convenience stores.

2️⃣ Is vegetarian food available in Taiwan?
Absolutely! Taiwan has a large vegetarian population, and we can help arrange meals that fit dietary needs—whether you're vegan, lacto-ovo vegetarian, or avoid beef. Hotels and B&Bs can also provide vegetarian breakfasts with advance notice.

3️⃣ What kid-friendly activities are there?
Taiwan is perfect for family travel! We recommend fun and safe activities like tea-making workshops, paper DIY, traditional indigo dyeing, pineapple cake and bubble tea DIY, riding the Maokong Gondola, cycling around Sun Moon Lake, and relaxing in hot springs.

4️⃣ Where can we go shopping?
Many Indian travelers enjoy shopping for electronics—Syntrend and Guanghua Digital Plaza in Taipei are great spots. For souvenirs and fun finds, visit Ximending, Zhongshan area, Dihua Street, Taipei 101 Mall, and local night markets.

5️⃣ What’s the best way to get around?
We offer private transportation services with vehicles tailored to your group size. Taiwan’s high-speed rail and metro systems are convenient, but for families with young children or seniors, private transfers offer the most comfort and ease.

6️⃣ What’s the best time to visit Taiwan?
Spring (March–May) and autumn (October–December) are ideal for pleasant weather. Summer (June–August) is warmer but great for outdoor fun. Winter (January–February) is cooler and perfect for hot spring visits.

7️⃣ What language do the guides speak?
We can provide English-speaking guides throughout the trip.

💬 Have more questions? Leave a comment or message us directly—we're happy to help you plan a safe, smooth, and memorable trip to Taiwan for the whole family!

🕊️ Non Violent Communication (NVC) in action with Uncertain Pathfinders 🙏

💪 Topology Travel - Taiwan Private Travel company is not just a team of guides and employees. Each and every one of our team comes with their own background, boundaries, communication and personality styles, strengths and vulnerabilities. 👯

This week, we brought better self-awareness to how we approach the deep diversity of our team and ourselves through a workshop led by Uncertain Pathfinders Chief Possibility Officer, Jeffrey Schwab. Many thanks to our CEO wen pan Lin, as well as the coordinating team of Core Liu and Chloe Kung for helping to organize the logistics for the day!

📢 「The purpose of this workshop is not meant to force anyone to approach conflict using NVC, but rather to bring greater awareness to how each and every one of us approach conflict and communication styles. Marshall Rosenberg's NVC provides a framework that individuals and teams can choose to use to help create constructive conflict and build better understanding. Because we focus on meeting needs, we can work towards common goals through the requests that we give one another」。Jeffrey Schwab

Topology Travel - Taiwan Private Travel company is a learning organization, always looking to build on experience and feedback. Our team took risks and opened up with one another during this three hour workshop. NVC is a continuous process, and we look forward to building upon this week's learning. We hope to give our own team tools and support to build greater connections with each other and look forward to continuing our team's journey through experimentation, reflection, fun, and open communication!

Can you guess what animal is on the cake?
It’s a wombat wearing a bamboo hat! A fun blend of Taiwanese and Australian culture. Isn’t it adorable?

😆 😁 😘 Let's Meet the Faces of Topology Travel

Welcome everyone to meet Topology Travel's founder and CEO, Peter Lin. Check out how he introduces himself in these 5 images below:

📸 Picture 1: I'm very interested in ancient civilizations — I've been to the sewers of Rome and the tombs in Xi'an西安。
📸 Picture 2: Volunteering as an English teacher in Nepal 🇳🇵 helped me decide to design experiences that involve a high level of interaction.
📸 Picture 3: I enjoy sports, even marathons. 🏃
📸 Picture 4: I enjoy visiting local markets and making friends with locals during my travels.
📸 Picture 5: One silly thing I’ve done was almost fainting while running — because I was jogging at an altitude of 3,600 meters! ⛰️

📢 My personal slogan or motto: The most meaningful travel experiences for me are the memories that come from connecting with people. Something people might not know about me is I really enjoy shopping — if something ends up in my cart, I get restless and can’t stop thinking about buying it!

🥒 I love visiting markets in different places — seeing what vegetables are in season and hearing the vendors’ recommendations. One time in Hualien花蓮, a fruit vendor told me that young people don’t shop at markets anymore; most of the customers who come now are really just there to chat. 🍉 🥝

☝ Three pieces of advice for visiting Taiwan for the first time 👇

❤️‍🔥 Taiwanese people are very warm and love chatting with foreigners.
🥢 Try using chopsticks when you eat.
👀 Always take a quick look when crossing the street!

💎 Hidden gems to remember about Taiwan that you might not know 👇

🎉 At 10 p.m., there are secondhand street stalls around Longshan Temple龍山寺.
🏫 In Taiwan, school campuses are usually open to the public for exercise.

🚴‍♂️ Most unforgettable travel experience in Taiwan: While cycling around the island, I ran into a typhoon — the wind and rain hit my face so hard it really stung! 🌀

Tomorrow is the Moon Festival! Today, I’d like to share how people in Taiwan celebrate this special occasion. If you’re traveling in Taiwan right now, you’re welcome to join in on these authentic experiences.

🌕🥓 Moon Festival: Taiwan's Time for Family and BBQ 🥓🌕
There’s a saying, “When the moon is full, so is the heart.” The Moon Festival is one of the most important family reunions in Taiwan. Families and friends gather to enjoy moon-gazing, savor mooncakes, and indulge in seasonal pomelos. In recent years, due to media and brand promotions, the festival has also become synonymous with BBQ gatherings. While many city dwellers head to BBQ restaurants due to limited space at home, in smaller towns, it’s common for families to set up BBQs in their yards or on balconies. The aroma of grilled food can fill the streets for days, sometimes even a week. Friendly locals might even invite you to join in on their family BBQ, offering a warm taste of Taiwan’s hospitality and joy.

🌕🥮 The Story of Mooncakes and the Allure of Salted Egg Yolk Pastries🥮🌕
Historically, mooncakes are linked to ancient wars, but today, they’re a beloved treat for everyone! Aside from the well-known pineapple cakes, salted egg yolk pastries (蛋黃酥) are a popular Moon Festival sweet in Taiwan. From award-winning bakers selling luxurious versions priced at over NT$100 each, to famous bakeries with mooncakes that sell out instantly, you can also find affordable salted egg yolk pastries at local bakeries. Even prisons produce and sell these pastries, helping inmates learn valuable skills for their future.

It’s easy to indulge during the Mid-Autumn Festival, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself eating a little too much! Come immerse yourself in Taiwanese culture and experience daily life with us during your travels!

【 】How to Order Hand-Shaken Drinks in Taiwan?

In Taiwan, there are so many drink shops with a various menu. Let’s come with us and I’ll show you how to order the drinks.

First, each shop has its signature or best-selling one. I recommend starting with the items marked with symbols on the left side of the menu; these are usually popular recommendations or classic options.

Next, you'll need to choose your sweetness level and ice amount. If you're ordering a slush, remember not to choose "no ice"! And here's a little tip: in the south of Taiwan, even half-sugar drinks can taste like full sugar!

To support environmental sustainability, you can get a 5 TWD discount for bringing your own reusable cup. Most shops also accept card payments, making it very convenient!

I personally don't drink beverages often, but when I do, I usually go for my favorite options: milk foam and pearls. I highly recommend them!

Let’s recap the secret to ordering drinks:
1️⃣Choose items marked with symbols on the left side of the menu; they are usually classics.
2️⃣Select your preferred sweetness level and ice amount.
3️⃣Bring your own reusable cup for a 5 TWD discount.
📌Most places accept card payments!|

Enjoy your drink adventure in Taiwan!
