If you would like to experience one of Taipei’s most iconic cultural and spiritual landmarks, we highly recommend visiting 艋舺龍山寺.

Built over 280 years ago, Longshan Temple is one of the most famous and active temples in Taipei. The temple is well known for its beautiful traditional architecture, intricate wood carvings, and detailed stone sculptures.

Many locals come here to pray for peace and blessings. From Gara Domus, it takes about 10 minutes by car. You can also explore the nearby old streets and enjoy some of WanHua’s local street food.

Travel guide to Longshan Temple, which is one of the most popular Temples in Taipei, and sits right in the middle of historical Wanhua District of Taipei. This temple dates back to 1738, and was built by Chinese settlers in Fujian in honor of the Longsha

One of our favorite ways to explore southern Wanhua is simply by walking.
From Gara Domus, it’s about a 17-minute walk to Nanjichang Night Market — a place loved by locals for generations.
Less touristy, more authentic, this night market offers a true taste of everyday Taipei.
If you’re looking for real local flavors, this is the place to go.

A Home Between Light and Land

In southern Wanhua, there is an ancient name — Gara,
derived from the Ketagalan language of the plains Indigenous people, meaning marshland.

This land was once soft and water-rich,
home to resilient plants and quiet, enduring forms of life.

We chose to preserve this forgotten name, and paired it with Domus,
the Latin word for home.

And so, GARA DOMUS was born —
a home slowly awakening within the city,
within history, and within shifting light and shadow.

Here, we honor the wildness of the land
while embracing the warmth of home.

A place between journeys,
where you are always welcome to rest.

在南萬華，有一個古老的名稱——加蚋，
源自平埔族凱達格蘭族語 Gara 的音譯，意為「沼澤地」。

這片土地曾經柔軟、含著水分，
孕育著韌性的植物，也承載著安靜而頑強的生命。

我們將這段被時間遺忘的名字保留下來，
並在它後面接上 Domus ——拉丁語中的「家」。

於是，GARA DOMUS 成為一座
