A glimpse into the traditional knowledge of the Hadzabe people.

Here, a Hadzabe hunter explains to our guests the different uses of his traditional arrows, speaking in his own language and sharing knowledge passed down through generations.

Dressed in traditional animal-skin clothing, he gives our guests a closer look at a way of life deeply connected to the land, nature and survival.

The hunt was over but the lesson was just beginning.

After bringing down the Thomson’s gazelle, the mother cheetah returned to call her three young cubs. She then led them back to where she had hidden the kill, and what followed was a fascinating display of learning.

Even though the gazelle was already dead, the cubs treated it like a training exercise biting, pulling and practising the movements they will one day need to bring down prey themselves. For young cheetahs, play and practice are an important part of developing hunting skills.

Soon, the lesson turned into a meal, with mother and cubs feeding together.

What looks like a simple meal is actually a vital moment in the cubs’ journey toward independence. In the wild, every experience counts.

After a long and exhausting chase, this mother cheetah finally made it happen.

A cheetah hunt is all about speed, timing and precision. Unlike many predators that rely on strength or long pursuits, cheetahs use explosive acceleration to close the distance quickly. They can reach incredible speeds, but they cannot maintain them for long.

Every second matters. The mother has to judge her target, accelerate at the right moment, change direction with it, and make the final move before exhaustion takes over.

After the chase, she finally brought down her prey. But the hunt was only half the story.

She had three young cubs waiting for her.

Tomorrow, I’ll share the next part of this incredible story: the mother dragging her kill back to her cubs.

Wildlife is not just about the final moment. Sometimes, the real story is everything that happens before it.

Before the hunt, there was a little family time.

Three young cheetah cubs enjoyed some playful moments with their mother, full of energy and curiosity. But for a cheetah family, play is more than just fun it is part of growing up and learning the skills they will one day need to survive.

Then their mother left the cubs and began the hunt.

And this time, she succeeded.

Tomorrow, the story continues… as this incredible mother returns with her hard-earned meal for her cubs.

Three tiny cubs, barely two months old, were waiting for their mother.

She slowly got up, stretched her body, looked around, and walked away.

It was time to hunt.

For this cheetah mother, there was no meal waiting for her. She had to leave her three young cubs behind and find food for them herself.

Every hunt is a risk. Every opportunity matters. And for a mother raising three cubs, failure means three hungry little mouths waiting back home.

But this hunt had a successful ending…

The elephant I recently shared swimming completely submerged in Lake Manyara is also a perfect example of how adaptable elephants can be.

In the dry season, this elephant was feeding on an acacia tree. Rather than only eating the leaves it could reach, it used its incredible strength to pull down and break a branch, bringing the higher foliage within reach.

As the branch came down, tiny leaflets scattered across the ground, almost like handfuls of small, shining ornaments spread across the ground at a wedding.

For an elephant, this is more than simply feeding. It is a clever way of accessing food growing high above the reach of many other herbivores.

And then, in another moment, we watched the same elephant completely disappear beneath the water of Lake Manyara, cooling itself and enjoying the water.

From pulling down branches to disappearing beneath a lake, elephants constantly adapt to what their environment offers.

That is what makes spending time with elephants so fascinating you never know what they will do next.
