Tarangire is especially remarkable during the dry season when the Tarangire River becomes the main water source, attracting large concentrations of wildlife. You will likely encounter massive elephant herds, sometimes over a hundred strong, moving gracefully across the plains or gathering along the riverbanks.
The park is rich in biodiversity, offering sightings of giraffes browsing acacias, zebras and wildebeests grazing, and predators such as lions and leopards lurking nearby. Tarangire is also known for its rare tree-climbing lions and over 500 bird species, making it a paradise for bird lovers.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive filled with incredible wildlife encounters before heading to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight, surrounded by the cool highland air.
Day 2 – 28 July: Karatu → Serengeti National Park
Accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp
After breakfast, begin your journey toward the legendary Serengeti National Park, driving through the lush Ngorongoro Highlands. As you ascend, breathtaking views unfold before descending into the vast Serengeti plains.
The Serengeti, meaning “endless plains,” is one of the most iconic safari destinations in the world. This immense ecosystem is home to the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeests and zebras move in search of fresh grazing. Depending on the season, you may witness herds stretching to the horizon or dramatic predator-prey interactions.
Enjoy a game drive en route to your camp, where you may spot lions resting under acacia trees, cheetahs scanning the plains, or elephants moving in the distance. The changing landscapes from kopjes (rocky outcrops) to open grasslands support an incredible diversity of wildlife.
Arrive at camp in the evening, where you will enjoy dinner under the African sky and overnight surrounded by the sounds of the wild.
Day 3 – 29 July: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Today is dedicated to exploring the wonders of the Serengeti. With both morning and afternoon game drives, you will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in this extraordinary ecosystem.
The Serengeti is renowned for its high concentration of predators. You may witness lion prides on the hunt, leopards resting in trees, or cheetahs sprinting across the plains. The park’s diverse habitats from riverine forests to open savannah offer constantly changing scenery and wildlife encounters.
This is also the perfect day to witness the Great Migration (seasonal), one of the most breathtaking natural spectacles on Earth.
For a truly unforgettable experience, you may opt for an early morning hot air balloon safari, floating silently above the plains as the sun rises, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush.
Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight, reflecting on a day filled with unforgettable moments.
Day 4 – 30 July: Serengeti National Park → Ngorongoro Area
Accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp
Begin the day with a morning game drive in the Serengeti, taking advantage of the early hours when wildlife is most active. This is often the best time to witness predators in action or see animals gathering at water sources.
Afterward, continue your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying wildlife sightings along the way. The transition from the open plains of the Serengeti to the lush highlands offers stunning scenic contrasts.
Arrive at your camp near the Ngorongoro area in the evening, where you will enjoy dinner and overnight in preparation for the next day’s highlight.
Day 5 – 31 July: Ngorongoro Crater → Return
Early in the morning, descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most extraordinary natural wonders. Formed from a collapsed volcano, this caldera creates a unique and self-contained ecosystem teeming with wildlife.
The crater floor is home to an incredible density of animals, offering one of the best chances in Tanzania to see the Big Five including the endangered black rhino. Lions roam the grasslands, elephants move through forested areas, and large herds of buffalo graze peacefully. Flamingos may also be seen along the shores of Lake Magadi, adding vibrant color to the landscape.
The scenery within the crater is breathtaking, with lush plains surrounded by towering crater walls, creating a dramatic and unforgettable setting.
