We love these graceful animals. They also know how to throw a hefty kick when the situation calls for it. Do you notice how some giraffes here are looking to one side? They had just witnessed one of their own being taken down by a lion. It's quite rare. It was such an intense scene, I remember my stomach was in knots the whole time. The wilderness is full of surprises. Happy world giraffe day!

When you're north of the equator, random rains after a long dry season can create a spectularly clear atmosphere. That whole left wing of Mt. Kenya is commonly unseen during most part of the year, only leaving the three high peaks visible. Enjoying it while it lasts.
