A common belief is that Mount Kilimanjaro has permanent snow, but the reality is more nuanced.
The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro has long been covered by glaciers and snowfields because of its high elevation (5,895 metres or 19,341 feet).
However, the snow is not truly permanent. The glaciers have been shrinking for more than a century due to a combination of climate change, reduced snowfall, and drier condition.
