*Seronera River The Heart of Serengeti*
The Seronera River runs through central Serengeti and is one of the best places to see wildlife year-round. Unlike seasonal rivers, Seronera has permanent water, so animals gather here even in the dry season.
*What you’ll see there:*
- *Hippos*: Large pods in the deeper pools, especially near Seronera Wildlife Lodge and the Visitor Centre.
- *Crocs*: Nile crocodiles bask on the banks and hunt at the water’s edge.
- *Predators*: Lions and leopards come to drink at dawn and dusk. Cheetahs use the open plains nearby.
- *Herds*: Elephants, buffalo, and grazers cross regularly. During the Great Migration, the river becomes a crossing point.
*Best time to visit*: Early morning and late afternoon. That’s when hippos are most active and predators come to drink.
