What you don’t expect about travelling to Africa - you’ll come home a different person. You’ll see the world through different eyes; wiser, gentler, kinder. When people ask you about your trip you won’t have words to describe the expansiveness you feel in your soul, so you’ll settle for telling them how cool it was that you saw a lion, or how you spent a day with locals in the village. If you only have a short amount of time in the Moshi/Arusha area before your big Kili trip or safari, we highly recommend the Materuni Village waterfall and coffee tour. Known for its organic Arabica coffee, the beautiful village sits in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. The local Chagga people will show you the coffee-making process (infused with song and dance in true Tanzanian style) and guide you on a gentle hike to the base of Materuni Falls.

Dreaming of white sand beaches and relaxing to laid-back island vibes? Zanzibar is your answer, my friends.

Spend your time enjoying the beaches, snorkelling and travelling by traditional dhow. Visit the giant tortoises on Prison Island and explore the old ruins.

Spend a day (or more) touring Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Old Slave Market and learn about the devastating (and relatively recent) history.

Take a day trip to Jozani Forest to see the Red Colobus Monkeys (endemic to Zanzibar), mangrove swamp and mahogany trees. Optional additions to this trip could include a swim in Kuza Cave and a stop at the famous Rock Restaurant.
